PAGANI UTOPIA HYPERCAR COULD BE MORE ECONOMICAL: THE COMPANY’S UNIMPLEMENTED SOLUTION IS TALKED

This month, Pagani presented us with its new Utopia 2023 hypercar. As you know, it is equipped with a 6.0-liter twin-turbo V12 engine that develops 852 horsepower. All power is transmitted through a 7-speed manual. The torque is 1100 N*m. However, now there is official information that the car could get a different transmission setup.

The head of the company, Horacio Pagani, said that the brand has received access to a 4.0-liter V8 hybrid engine from Mercedes-AMG. In the German sedan, the plug-in transmission produces 831 horsepower. However, Pagani engineers would tune this system to deliver 1,000 hp. If Utopia had received electrification, then the hypercar would have had four-wheel drive, but this never happened.

Why did it happen so? The Italian firm feared the hybrid powertrain would be heavier than the V12 engine. Now the new Pagani weighs only 1280 kilograms. It is not known how big the weight gain would be. A simulation was run in which the Nürburgring hybrid V8 variant was 5 seconds slower than the base version. It is worth saying that the AMG GT 63 SE is equipped with a 9-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission (photo: Pagani).

Therefore, it remains unclear whether it was possible to adapt a manual transmission to work with a hybrid transmission. In addition, Utopia can be equipped with a seven-speed automated manual transmission. Pagani is going to produce 99 copies of the new hypercar. All of them have already been purchased. Their cost is 2.19 million dollars (131,443,800 rubles). Obviously, in the future we will see many different special editions for the Utopia car.
